12kW Off-Grid Solar Energy Storage System for a Small Shopping Mall in Uganda
Project Overview
A small shopping mall in Uganda needs a reliable power supply for daily operations, including lighting, retail equipment, and security systems. Unstable grid electricity can disrupt business activities, making an independent power solution important.
To reduce dependence on the grid, the mall uses an SRNE ASP 12kW off-grid solar storage inverter with two 16kWh batteries, providing 32kWh of total battery storage. This configuration supports essential commercial loads when grid power is unavailable.

Off-Grid Energy Storage Solution for Commercial Power Supply
During the daytime, solar panels can generate electricity for the shopping mall's daily operations. The ASP off-grid inverter converts the generated power into usable AC electricity, while excess solar energy can be stored in the batteries for later use.
When solar generation decreases or grid power becomes unavailable, the battery system can supply stored electricity to essential commercial loads, helping maintain basic operations.
The system can prioritize important electrical equipment according to the mall's power requirements, allowing available solar energy and battery storage to be used more effectively.
Highlights of the Off-Grid Solar Energy Storage Solution
1. A Single 12kW Off-Grid Inverter for Small Commercial Loads
The project uses one SRNE ASP 12kW off-grid solar storage inverter, establishing a standalone-capable power conversion system for the shopping mall without requiring multiple inverter units.
2. Two 16kWh Batteries for 32kWh of Energy Storage
The two batteries provide a combined nominal capacity of 32kWh. Stored energy can be used to supply connected loads when immediate generation is insufficient, with the actual duration determined by the mall's electricity demand.
3. Off-Grid Power Architecture for a Multi-Shop Property
Instead of focusing on a large central industrial load, the system serves a small commercial setting where multiple shops and shared services may require electricity. The off-grid architecture allows the power system to be designed around prioritized loads and available energy.
Summary
This shopping mall project in Uganda illustrates a compact off-grid energy storage configuration for small commercial properties.
By combining an ASP 12kW off-grid solar storage inverter with 32kWh of battery capacity, the project provides an example of how independent power conversion and stored energy can be brought together for commercial electricity applications where grid reliability is an important consideration.
